Audient \Au”di*ent\, a. [L. audiens, p. pr. of audire. See Audible, a.] Listening; paying attention; as, audient souls. 

The company was originally founded in the 1990s to provide public relations services to pro audio manufacturers. In 1996 it reorganized as an independent rep firm serving national trade publishers.
